NANOSMAT YOUNG SCIENTIST'S LECTURE COMPETITION
NanoSMat 2010
This is the first time for a NANOSMAT conference to host a "Young Scientist's Lecture Competition". We are hoping after its success during NANOSMAT-5, this competition will be held with every NANOSMAT conference each year. The aim of the Young Scientist's Lecture Competition is to provide a friendly atmosphere competition for young scientists working in the fields of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology so that their presentation skills will improve whilst addressing an informed audience.
RULES
The competition is open to anyone who is following a post-graduate course study programme at a recognised university, in any aspect of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. The competition is open to Young scientists who are either MSc or PhD students. Further, the maximum age of the student should be 30 years. The student will need to be "pre-registered" for the conference by paying student fee.
Presentations
Each entrant will give a presentation lasting not more than 15 minutes on a subject of their choice about any aspect of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Facilities at the venue will permit PowerPoint presentations.
Questioning
Questioning from three of the judges (appointed prior to the event) will take place immediately after each presentation. Each judge may ask one/two question(s).
Judges
A panel of three judges will adjudicate the competition. Judges will be made up of Academics and Industrialists.
Nomination Procedure
The Student's supervisor/advisor must submit the following items to info@nanosmat-conference.com by 30 June 2010.
- a completed application form. Click here to download the form
- one copy of the abstract that the student wishes to present at the competition
- a recommendation letter supporting the nomination
Late or incomplete applications will not be evaluated
Nature of the Award
There will be three CASH prizes for Gold, Silver and Bronze winners. Gold - 400 Euros; Silver - 200 Euros; and Bronze - 100 Euros. In addition, all three students will each receive a certificate. Winners will be named and awards presented during the conference banquet.
